Reddit wants to better facilitate the off-platform distribution of subreddit content, with some updated post-sharing processes that allow users to share Reddit links without the link revealing their Reddit username, thereby better-protecting user privacy.
First, Reddit has added a new option to share Reddit posts to Instagram Stories in a new sticker format, which will save you from having to screenshot the post or share the URL.
As you can see, the new post-sharing process provides a link to a Reddit post in native sticker format, which will also display the image attached to the link.
Reddit has also updated the link-sharing process for the messaging app, and now Reddit links will automatically revert to a visual preview format, similar to IG Stories stickers.
Reddit’s post-sharing options will also now default to your most-used sharing channels, making it easier to send content to friends in other apps, while also adding a new one-click screenshot-sharing process that will prompt You to share full posts instead of images, providing a more direct link back to the app.
Reddit has also added a new embed tool for publishers that provides a streamlined process for displaying Reddit content on external websites.
Enter the URL of any Reddit post and the tool will generate an embed code with the correct format for displaying the post. This has always been a headache for Reddit posts and boost embeds – but now, you’ll have a streamlined way of not only sharing posts linking back to the app but also setting your own parameters around how big the post should be displayed, whether to show comments too, dark mode, language settings, etc.
These are some handy updates that will help expand Reddit and Redditors’ exposure and connect directly to the content itself. This could also attract more people to the app and help Reddit build the 570,000 daily active users it’s seeing so far.
